Week 13 was a short one due to the All-Star game, but the replay marches on. All teams have reached or passed the 80 games played mark. The teams at the top are still there, but there is a feeling in the league they may be weakening and there are several "volunteers" ready and able to take their place.

St. Louis is still safely in first place, 8.5 games ahead of Boston, but that lead is two less than it was a week ago. Worse for St. Louis is their seeming invincible pitching staff has proven to be "vincible" after all. Boston climbed over New York to reach second place after the Giants somehow got swept in a doubleheader at home by Pittsburgh. The Giants pitching has been their strong point this season until it isn't, but everyone has a bad week. Brooklyn continues to knock on the door of third place but hasn’t quite made it. The best thing St. Louis has going for it is watching these other three teams take turns knocking each other around. Philadelphia has been in a slumber recently but has shown signs of awakening recently. Pittsburgh is still a one-man show with Ralph Kiner. Cincinnati and Chicago continue to struggle.

Boston has seen their AL lead dwindle to only 5.5 games as the revitalized New York team keeps gaining. The warts on Boston's pitching staff have begun to reveal themselves, as the Red Sox fans feared they would. New York just keeps charging up the standings as their primary starting pitchers continue to produce. Cleveland threw shutouts in three consecutive games and has taken over the lead in ERA, but their offense is still inconsistent and they are plagued by injuries. Detroit almost got to third place, now they are struggling to stay ahead of fifth place Chicago. Washington has seen more of the air come out of their balloon and they have slipped down past Chicago to sixth place. Philadelphia is better than seventh place team, but they need more than the two teams in front of them to collapse so they can move up. St. Louis may be a fighter, but their holes are all exposed by now and they are having a hard time keeping up.
The replay All-Star team is posted (here), so an otherwise short write-up for a short week. I want to see what happens next.
